m-audio x-session pro

Here’s the .tsi file for the M-Audio X-Session Pro for Traktor Pro that I used on my latest mix: “The Consequences.” The photo shows how I set up the top knobs and the rest is pretty standard, with soft-takeovers on the faders and effect knob. The file is not backwards compatible for earlier versions of Traktor.

View Details

This DJ mix from Liz Revision called Neurotransmission was created around the theme of love. All of the tracks, ranging from minimal techno to IDM & ambient aim to re-create the sensation of falling in love. The handmade package is stitched together and features a cute closure mechanism. The inside features the written descriptions of serotonin and dopamine, two chemicals that increase in the body when one falls in love. The limited edition CD is only available from Fractalspin with any order of $40 or more, and only while quantities are available.

Liz Revision is Chicago-based multi-hyphenate Liz McLean Knight. Established as an electronic music producer under the name Quantazelle, and owner of geek boutique Fractalspin, McLean Knight DJs glitchy minimal techno and IDM, promotes electronic music events in Chicago and runs the subVariant record label. She also designs the artwork for the releases, and is known for the humorous design of her album, featuring a set of ways to customize a “coaster” Coaster: Deluxe Edition

Happy Halloween: Exclusive Free Liz Revision Mix, Party in Chicago with Bitshifter

Friend of the Site Liz McLean Knight aka Liz Revision aka Quantazelle of subVariant has put together a special, exclusive mix for CDM of 117-119 bpm musical goodness, excavated from the “_blippy” folder of sketches on her USB drive. Matt Moldover, who has been working on his CD-as-electronic-instrument album, lent his laptop. (Watch him assembling CDs in the video after the break.)

It’s all in celebration of a Halloweeen party Saturday night in Chicago, headlined by Josh Davis (BitShifter). Party ringleader Liz joins Josh on behalf of subVariant to represent the IDM-glitch-minimal-tech-house side of things, and Mr. Automatic (Front 312) and Onefiftyone (Chicago Workshop) will be joining in. If you’re in Chicago, this looks like the place to spend your Saturday. If, like me, you’re not, well, we have some music and videos for you to bring the party home.
